Children's choir awards and recognition night

Children's choir had their awards and recognition night on May 5, 2010. Directors and volunteers leaders for the four choirs were recognized.

• Joyful Singers:

• Junior Choristers:

  Assistants: Beth Vorhaus, Alice Fitzpatrick, Mark Naumann
• Doxology 1:
  Director: Carol McClure
  Accompanist: Doug Murray
  Assistants: Myfanwy Graeff, Joy and Kevin Howard

Choir members who had attended choir 95% of the time were:

• Doxology 1: Emma Howard, Susanne Short, Emily Stone
• Junior Choristers: Joel Barnes, Mary Caroline Carney, Alex Vorhaus

Those members having perfect attendance received a gift certificate for Baskin-Robbins. The choristers were:

• Doxology 1: Jori Graeff
• Junior Choristers: Kendall Posey, Tinsley Sheppard
• Joyful Singers: Lacy Sheppard

The 2nd and 3rd graders were challenged to work on hymn memorization.  The 2nd graders who completed their program were awarded hymnals; those who completed the program were: Joel Barnes, Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, and Ellie Soares. The 3rd graders were awarded gold seals to place in their hymnals; they were: Mary Caroline Carney, Tinsley Sheppard, and Alex Vorhaus.  Third grader Kendall Posey worked ahead last year, due to an expected move to Houston- since they didn't move she memorized additional hymns this year and earned a Baskin Robbins gift certificate.

The Doxology 1 choir awards Honor Choristers each year, this year they choose 3: Jori Graeff, Emily Stone and Emma Howard.  The Doxology 1 choir also took an end of the year music theory test and the entire choir received certificates for their accomplishment.
