June Bells

June Bells - a Chance for You to Learn (Remember How) to Ring Handbells!

Have you enjoyed hearing the bells in worship this year? Maybe, you've found yourself thinking, "I'd really like to learn how to play someday." Or... "I used to ring years ago. It'd be fun to do it again, but I'd need a refresher course." Well, here's your opportunity! By this time next year, you'll be so much smarter, will have made some new friends, and may have developed a new passion in life as well as a new niche in the worship life of God's people at FPC.
Justin and Rowan Near playing bells

  • Four Mondays in June
  • 9:30-10:30 AM in the chancel
  • For adults, youth, and children (entering 4th grade and above)
  • No performance expectation
  • Bekah Caruso, leader
Come with your son or daughter. Come with a buddy. Come on your own. Come!

Call the Music Office at 298-9517, or e-mail Bekah at bcaruso@bellsouth.net to reserve your spot. Last summer's June Bells had 18 participants, with 10 continuing in the fall to form the bell choir known as Bellissima. Any who didn't carry on are invited to return. Other alums are welcome to assist as coaches.

Is the time not good for you? make the contact anyway to add your name to the list of future possible ringers.

Handbell Choir Opportunities

The Ringtones, a bell choir for experienced ringers, convenes quarterly to rehearse for four Tuesday evenings, 7:00-8:00 p.m., and to play in worship the following Sunday at both services. This group is led by Bekah Caruso.

Bellissima grew out of June Bells 2010, a series of sessions for first-time ringers as well as several who had rung at earlier points in their lives and wanted a refresher course. This group of moms and new grandmothers, led by Susan DeVries and Bekah rehearses Mondays, 9:30-10:30 a.m. with periodic breaks to accommodate school calendars. Bellissima provides music leadership in worship 2-3 times during the school year.

Would you like to become a ringer at FPC? Lists are being kept for future possible choirs:

  • Daytime experienced adult ringers
  • Evening beginners, youth and adult
  • Daytime June Bells 2011 for beginning adults, youth, and children (entering 4th grade and above)
  • Afternoon/evening beginning children (4th grade and above)

If you are interested in handbell ringing, call the music department at 298-9517 or by e-mail at music@fpcnashville.org.
