Welcome to the Junior Choristers Hymn Club! Each month during the choir year singers who choose to participate will learn the first verse of a hymn as well as some cool FAQs about the composer, the words, and the tune. October is our "music in worship" month and we will focus on the music we sing every week in our worship service; the Doxology and the Gloria Patri. Junior Choristers are always encouraged to share what they learn with their families. Each year we will learn a new set of the favorite hymns of First Presbyterian Church-Nashville.

Earn Your Own Presbyterian Hymnal and More
Junior Choristers who successfully complete the Hymn Club for the choir year will earn their own copy of The Presbyterian Hymnal.

• First-time members (2nd or 3rd graders):
  Memorize and sing for your director - the Doxology, the Gloria Patri and the first verse of six of the seven hymns studied.
  *Earn your own hymnal at the end of the choir year.
• Extra Effort members (3rd graders who earned a hymnal last year):
  Memorize and sing for your director - the first verse of six of the seven hymns studied plus our congregational benediction response "Go, My Children" (instead of the Doxology and the Gloria Patri).
  *Earn a gold-embossed seal to place on the bookplate inside your hymnal.

When singers are ready, look for Hymn-of-the-Month sign-up sheets in your Junior Choristers Choir Room for available time slots before and after rehearsal.

Each child who sings at least one hymn for their director during the year will receive a certificate.

A Note for Parents
The hymns of the church are an important part of our heritage, connecting us to Christians through all the ages. Words and tunes our children learn at this age will encourage and comfort them in many life experiences they'll face in the years ahead.
