Milliken University Choir to present their Winter Tour Concert
The Millikin University Choir will present a concert at First Presbyterian Church, Nashville, TN on January 8, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The choir, from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, will perform as part of its annual winter tour, showcasing its reputation for innovative programming and tonal variety with repertoire spanning five centuries.
The choir owns an extensive touring history that includes performances in Mexico, Scandinavia, the former Soviet Union, Haiti, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and England. Additionally the choir has several CDs to its credit, including this year's live recording of Christmas Vespers, a Millikin choral tradition that attracts nearly 7,000 annually.
The Millikin University Choir is under the direction of Dr. Bradley Holmes, associate professor of music and director of choral studies. He has led the choir since 1991.
Millikin's School of Music offers a wide variety of degree programs and fields of specialization. The University Choir is one of six traditional choral ensembles involving over 300 students. Choir members are chosen after highly competitive auditions among the student body and represent a variety of majors.
Millikin, an independent coeducational university, offers the diversity of a large university and the personal attention of a small college with more than 50 academic programs in its four colleges: College of Arts and Sciences, School of Nursing, College of Fine Arts, and the Tabor School of Business.
