2005-2006 Concerts
Nicole Naumann, Soprano, Sunday, November 6, 2005 4:00 p.m.

FPC's Nicole Naumann will be singing in concert on Sunday, November 6 at 4:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary. Accompanying Nicole on the piano is Joel Bolen. Assisting her in this concert is Abigail Crouch on harp.

Soprano Nicole Naumann holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Indiana University, studying under Klara Barlow, and a Master of Music degree from Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she studied with Elizabeth Anker.

Ms. Naumann began her vocal career while growing up in her hometown of Nashville, performing with the Blair Children's Chorus and recording children's music for the Baptist Sunday School Board, the United Methodist Publishing House, and Silver-Burdett Books. While in high school she performed as one of the youngest members of the Nashville Opera Chorus and the Nashville Symphony Chorus. Ms. Naumann continued her Nashville career after undergraduate studies as a frequent soloist in oratorios and chamber works with the Collegium Vocale of Vanderbilt University, the Nashville Chamber Singers, and at area churches. Ms. Naumann most recently participated in the Songfest Young Artists program at Icicle Creek during the summer of 2004, performing the role of Idamante in Mozart's Idomeneo, the role of the Nursing Sister in Puccini's Suor Angelica at the Longy School of Music, and was a member of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus during the 2004-2005 concert season. Her solo appearances have included numerous oratorio performances in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Maine. While receiving her Masters, she focused on performing early music in the New England area.

Ms. Naumann has recently returned to Nashville to continue her vocal career through performing, teaching, and recording. She is an assistant for the Vanderbilt University Concert Choir under Pam Schneller at the Blair School of Music, and is a soloist with the Nashville Symphony Chorus. In addition, Ms. Naumann teaches private voice lessons to a wide age range of students.

Harpist Abigail Crouch was born in Brazil to missionary parents, and spent much of her childhood on the mission field in Brazil, Portugal and Guyana. She began playing the harp at the age of nine, and was self-taught for a number of years, owing to the isolation of life abroad.

She entered the Harp School in Spring of 2000, beginning her studies with Artistic Director Carol McClure, and progressed rapidly as both a performer and teacher, with her progress verified by the examination system of London-based Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music(ABRSM). She was awarded the Board's Diplomas in both performance and teaching in Spring 2005, which entailed extensive examinations in performance and music theory, and presentations of teaching case studies, program note submissions and live interviews.

Abigail currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she serves as the Harp School's Executive Teaching Associate, overseeing a large teaching practice, and assisting other Harp School teaching associates in the Midwest as they establish and grow their teaching studios. She maintains a busy performance schedule in the Indianapolis area, and is presently preparing for ABRSM Licentiate examinations, scheduled for Fall 2006.
