Stuart Gordon is a native North Carolinian. He holds degrees from Davidson College, Union Theological Seminary in Virginia, and Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. Prior to his call to First Church in September of 2005, he served as Pastor to the John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Florence, South Carolina and the First Presbyterian Church of Carthage, North Carolina. Stuart is married to the former Anne Bond, a life-long member of First Church and alumna of the Oak Hill School. They have two sons, Drew and Will.
As Associate Pastor for Discipleship, Stuart enjoys primary duties in teaching the Bible and the church's faith. He teaches the Logos Sunday School class, regular classes in the Wednesday School of Christian Living, and special events such as teacher training workshops.
