Letitia Green, Director
I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and spent my childhood camping, water skiing, canoeing, fishing, swimming, and hiking with my family. My father is an avid outdoorsman and my mother an artist, so I developed a love for both. At a young age I decided that performing on stage was the path for me and attended a school for the arts in Montgomery, Alabama.
I began my long career with First Presbyterian Church working at Oak Hill Day Camp in 1989 as the Theatre Director. I was able to combine my love of the stage and the outdoors and enjoyed coming back to camp each summer, no matter what the months between held. My work at Oak Hill Day Camp helped me discover a desire to work with children on a ministry level. I began that work as a Children’s Ministry Leader and eventually was asked to direct the Children’s Ministry at my church. But whether continuing my career in Theatre or in Children’s ministry I always came “home” to Oak Hill Day Camp. In September of 2002 I had the opportunity to join the staff of the Recreation Department full time as the After-care and Enrichment Coordinator. I loved being at FPC and was even more thrilled when asked to take the position of Director of Recreation in January of 2004.
The Recreation Department and Oak Hill Day Camp has changed a lot over the years. Growth and change is inevitable, but it also essential to hold to the values and traditions that has molded our characters for generations. I have two daughters who have spent their entire lives at FPC. They learned so much here. How to swim, ride horses, play soccer, archery, and how to build a campfire. But they also learned about children who have special needs, children from the inner city, and how to help them.
I love every aspect of the work that I get to do here. I love the children, the families, and all the people that I get to work with every day. God has truly blessed me.
